BEARD WATCH: 12/31/08

By popular demand, here's an update on my expedition beard growing successes of late:

On top of adding to my grisled good looks, this beard will give me some protection from the sun and a place to hide snacks for easy access while rowing.

Given that I've been at it for less than a month, I give this beard a 6.5 out of 10. I've still got some work to do to match these bearded wonders of the world: http://www.beards.org/features.php

Enjoy!

Paul

I think it is amazing what you are doing, I first read about you in press connects and have been reading your blog everyday. I also lost my mom to cancer. My prayers will be with you and be safe.

Hey Paul! Pressconnects.com is doing a darn good job of keeping folks in the Bing informed about your little jaunt across the pond. I do believe, however, that you should have kept up with your shaving until you actually shoved off shore...it's like you've cheated for 26 days on growing that beard! Jon and I wish you lots of luck...

It takes about 6 weeks for a beard to look legitimate. Yours is quite good for a month. Every seafaring man needs a beard.

But back to business: The Binghamton Press reports you have your paperwork in place and that you may launch Thursday. How about a real update?

Ridley make sure to look for Mayes classes in teh ocean.

Also, I'll drink a beer for every day at sea. First beer is Steel Reserve.

Have you considered the extra weight the beard will add to the boat? Your choice - beard or candy bars...
